A house with room for horses

Private Residence

At the request of the Client, we were asked to design a French country house, suited to a modern lifestyle, while offering beautiful river views.  There would be a state-of-the-art horse stable adjacent to the home.  The house has some formal aspects, but the overall feel is casual.  The design was pared down to its basic elements while keeping the scale and proportion appropriate.  Three massive full glass picture windows on the back of the home capture the beautiful views of the St. Johns River.  Coming down the drive is an open riding field leading past the stables.  The stately appointed stables can house three horses with an additional quarantine stall if needed.  Concrete pavers seamlessly flow into the stables while tongue and groove pine boards line the ceiling.  The stables are heated and cooled to provide comfort on extreme weather days.  The first view of the grand entrance with it's massive mahogany doors below and a metal belly railing balcony above welcomes visitors.  Oil rubbed bronze door hardware, a cast stone fireplace surround and a honed Carrera marble kitchen island are just some of the details that contribute to this homes' understated elegance and attention to detail.
